Dedicating Sienna to God

We enjoyed a beautiful ceremony at Stonecreek Church on Sunday, dedicating our sweet Sienna to God. We also dedicated Parker and Mason at this church, but the ceremony was more similar to that of Mason’s. She was joined by Sienna’s Godmother Kate, her Great Grandparents, her “Nanny”, and Dan and I. We committed to raising her in a Godly home, and asked for the help of those who attended in their Godly influence in her life. Stonecreek asked that we discuss with the attendees the hopes and dreams that we have for our daughter, and this is what Dan and I came up with:
-I want her to have a servant’s heart and a heart after God (not feel the since of entitlement, but be humbling and giving
-I want her to seek guidance and acceptance from God, instead of the world and of people
-I want her to be happy about her life and her relationships she’s developed with he parents, friends, and family. Making sure her close relationships are with people of a Godly influence.
-Have a good self image and confidence in herself.

They read a beautiful verse following her biblical name meaning that I would like to share.

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the father in my name, He may give it to you.   John 15:16

We followed the ceremony with a cook out and dinner at our house, and we just had a nice day with close family and friends.  Turns out my friend Kate and my Grandparents have ties to the same neighborhood in Louisiana!  Such a small world.  Kate has always reminded me of the Grandparents since I met her- with her being Catholic, and them both being from Louisiana. I feel so lucky to have such Godly influences and friendships in my life and the lives of our kids!

Bienvenido a Miami

Party in the city where the heat is on
All night on the beach till the break of dawn
Welcome to Miami
(Bienvenido a Miami)

My Bestie from as far back as middle school, Jess and I try to get together as often as we can. She lives in Charleston and is in such a different life stage than me, but we really enjoy getting together and doing a lot of fun girl stuff sans the family! I’ve been up to Charleston several times to see her, and this time we decided it would be fun to go somewhere different. She’s never been to Miami, and every time I’ve been, I’ve had such a great time. It’s such a fun place! The shopping, the BEACH, the night life… the crazy energy the city has… I just love it. It’s not something I immerse myself in very often, but it really excites the fun wild side of me, and that is something that I love to tap into once in a while! So, we did shopping, a duck tour, bike rides, beach lounging, getting spa treatments, drinking and eating, and SLEEPING uninterrupted. It was fabulous! We said we were going to go out dancing, but after a full day, we went out to eat a late dinner, and then just got too tired and wimped out! Boo! Plenty of fun times were had and I can’t wait for my next girl trip. I am so thankful to get to enjoy her friendship for so long, and thankful to my husband for being such an amazing father and telling me that I deserve a long weekend away. He was great watching all the kiddos without me, it was good for them, for him, and for me! I didn’t lug around my DSLR, so these are all iphone pics, and not even edited, but it’s just a glimpse of the weekend of fun we had. I can’t wait until the next trip!

An evening of fun at the Fair!

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year since Dan’s surgery. One of the reasons why I remember it so well is because the week he was admitted, was the same week of the fair. It was something that we looked forward to each year and had to skip during his hospitalization. Thankfully, Dan is feeling great this year and looks great too! We are so thankful for his good health this year, and God’s continued healing! So, this year we celebrated life and enjoyed going to the fair. I’m not sure who had more fun.. us or the boys! Incidentally, we left Sienna’s pacifier in the car, and we stayed out WAY past her bedtime, but she wasn’t sad one bit! The boys had so much fun riding rides, and taking in all the lights, fun and action. By the time we were ready to go, we were ALL ready to go. We were so tired, and ready for bed. Great memories were made, and we look forward to this fall tradition each year!

Parker is Four!

I love the little boy that Parker has become, and is growing into! He’s so excited about life, passionate, smart, silly, full of energy, thrives in a structured rule based environment and LOVES to talk!  He’s definitely an extrovert, and enjoys being the center of attention.  He can be strong willed at times, but overall doesn’t give us a lot of trouble.  He has his moments, but so do I as a parent!

I wanted to ask Parker a couple of questions that I thought he would have fun answering.

1. Who’s your favorite super hero?  Ninja Go! and Spiderman

2. What is your favorite color? Blue

3. What do you want to be when you grow up? A Daddy who goes to work

4. Where are you going to work?  Go on a airplane and go to work on computers.

5. What’s your favorite TV show? Caillou

6. What’s your favorite book? Curious George Halloween

7. What’s your favorite toy? Spiderman

8. Who’s your best friend? Mason, Colby, Carter, Davis and Glancy (he said this super fast…as a matter of fact) This may change tomorrow, or even by this evening.

9. What’s your favorite song? Froggy went a courtin’

10. What’s your favorite food?  Waffles and cereal

We had a great time celebrating his birthday a few weeks ago.  Since he is so extroverted, and loves people, he just LOVES parties and getting to see all his little friends.  That was his favorite part of the day.  I have a feeling I just have a handful of years left before he’s lost in his friendships, wanting to only be with his buddies and I’m no longer “cool” to him.  I still love how he enjoys my company and that we have a great bond.  I hope that never changes!

Even though it rained, Parker still had fun in the bounce house, and the balloon guy saved the day with his AMAZING super hero creations!  He had so much fun and I hope that it made him feel super loved and special!
