This past few weeks have been super busy and fun and sometimes challenging. Here are some tidbits of randomness:
~In my third week of medication for thrush. Fortunately, Parker and I are symptom free and nursing is going really well. We met with a lactation consultant last week and her help was invaluable! I have to say that I thought I had all the answers, but she put us on a “feeding plan” and it has worked wonders for us. We’re developing a great rhythm.
~Last week Parker and I ventured out to the grocery store and Target for the first time. He did SO good. I just put him in the baby bjorn and I was able to get everything I needed on my list while he slept soundly on my chest. I was so nervous, but he was a champ.
~My most favorite part of the day is reading books to Parker. He loves it. We like to read Frog and Toad, Harold and the Purple Crayon, and Love You Forever just to name a few of our favorites…okay, so they’re my favorites, but I’m sure Parker will learn to love them too.
~We had a wonderful Halloween this year. Parker dressed up as a Kangaroo. We called him Parker-Roo. He was the cutest little Kangaroo I’ve ever seen.
~Dan booked travel for his trip to Orlando in December, and Parker and I are going to tag along. It’ll be our first trip with the baby and Parker’s first time on a plane. I’m hoping it’ll go as well as it did for little Avalon. Kaley, if you or Avalon have any tips…please share! Parker and I are going to plan some fun days together while daddy is busy training people at work. I can’t wait!
~Little Parker is gaining so much weight! Last week he weighed in at 11lbs 3oz. He’s such a big boy and he is six weeks today. Can you believe the Ped’s were concerned over one ounce? Puleeez. They had nothing to worry about. My boy is going to be a line backer!
~Speaking of weight…I still have SO much weight to loose. I thought nursing would put me back in my old jeans in no time, but sadly it hasn’t happened yet. I’ve been walking the two mile loop when it’s nice out, but other than that, I haven’t been exercising at all. Mainly because I am still trying to get Parker on a good sleep schedule so that I’m not so tired during the day. Once he starts sleeping more, I plan to get busy on the cardio and the stomach crunches. More updates on that to come!
~A few weeks ago I found out that my aunt and uncle are getting divorced after over 32 years of marriage and three kids. It has broken my heart, and the hearts of the family too. I pray that God will somehow intervene and that the counseling will allow a resolution. To make matters worse, family gossip is ramped and people are taking sides. I’m praying for the unification of my aunt and uncle, as well as the family.
~We’re still going strong with the cloth diapering. It really isn’t so bad with the diaper service. Dan has gotten the hang of it, and it is working out well. We do use with disposables at night though because it is just too darn hard to try and focus when it’s 3am and your dead tired. I don’t feel guilty about it. I’m just happy that for every cloth diaper I use, that’s one disposable that I don’t have to use.
~Dan and I got our H1N1 Vac this weekend. Turns out our pediatrician recommended it for us since Parker is not able to get the vaccine. It is only offered for infants starting at six months of age. With Dan traveling all the time on business, it’s comforting to know that we have some protection.
~Last night Parker slept a little over five hours! I’m convince it was my little “Go to sleep my sweet Parker” lullaby that I made up as well as the gentle wiggle of his belly with my hand while he’s in his crib that did the trick. I’m so proud of him. He’ll be sleeping through the night in no time. Or at least a Momma can hope!
~Today I had my six week check-up at the doctor’s office. Everyone was so happy to see Parker, and it was good to see my doctor that delivered him. He couldn’t believe how much he has grown. Everything has healed up nice…and Dan will be SO happy to hear that I’m “good to go”.
~Dan and I decided to go up to Dahlonega this weekend. It was Parker’s first time and we really enjoyed ourselves. I don’t know what it is about nature that soothes me so much. I just love it. The fall foliage was so beautiful and the weather was perfect. It has rained a lot this season, which made for a very colorful landscape. We went up to Amacalola Falls and even though Parker slept through the stroll up the falls, we had an wonderful time as a family enjoying nature and each other. It was such a blissful little getaway.
~I think I’ve taken more pictures in the past six weeks than I have in the past year. Here are just a few:
